Junior Design Project & Procurement Assistant - International Hotel Group This position is designed for an ambitious graduate from any design discipline looking to pivot into the commercial, logistical, and operational side of premium property development. Working directly alongside the Design Projects & Procurement Manager and the Project Assistant, the successful incumbent will bridge the gap between design intent and physical execution, transitioning creative vision into reality. The role focuses heavily on the business engine of the luxury industry—managing high-end procurement, local and global supply chains, and project administration. Offering a masterclass in the commercial delivery of high-end developments, this position carries a significant travel requirement to various project sites, fabricators, and supplier showrooms. NB: Kindly note the role will be based in Sandton and will also require traveling to out of town or cross border projects, which may extend to periods of time away from home and over weekends. Own transport is essential. Key Performance Areas: 1. Procurement Administration & Sourcing Facilitating the end-to-end procurement process for fixtures, furniture, equipment (FF&E), and specialized finishes based on management briefs. Collating specifications, requesting formal estimates, and compiling comprehensive cost-comparison analyses for management sign-off. Generating purchase orders, cross-referencing supplier invoices against budgets, and tracking payment milestones. 2. Logistics, Site Coordination & Quality Control Managing supply chain logistics to ensure timeous delivery of materials to various active developments. Conducting frequent site and workshop visits to oversee deliveries, cross-check manifests, and perform initial quality control inspections on arriving goods. Liaising directly with on-site contractors, logistics partners, and vendors to resolve delivery or lead-time discrepancies. 3. Project Operations & Documentation Assisting the current Project Assistant with the maintenance of master project schedules, variation orders, and budget tracking documentation. Managing the project database, ensuring all architectural drawings, material specifications, warranties, and supplier service level agreements are meticulously cataloged. Coordinating operational schedules, site access requirements, and progress reports for the management team. Candidate Requirements Qualifications: A completed Degree or Diploma in any design-related discipline (e.g., Interior Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, Spatial Design). Matric Grade 12 Competencies: Strong numerical literacy, structural organization, and proficiency in MS Excel/Office suites. An understanding of design terminology and technical drawings is essential. Licensing & Mobility : A valid driver’s license and independent, reliable transport are mandatory due to the extensive travel required across site and supplier networks.
