A leading construction organisation in Belgium is looking for an experienced Site Manager (Werfleider) to manage large-scale institutional and public building projects.

About the Role

As a Site Manager, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day management of construction sites, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and according to required quality standards.

Working closely with the Project Manager, you'll coordinate site teams, subcontractors and suppliers while overseeing planning, technical execution, safety, quality and site administration.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing and coordinating daily construction activities on site

• Leading site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and workers

• Translating master schedules into weekly and daily construction priorities

• Planning and coordinating materials, deliveries and work preparation

• Conducting regular site inspections and monitoring project progress

• Reading and interpreting construction drawings and technical specifications

• Monitoring technical execution and validating completed work

• Taking responsibility for on-site safety, quality and SHEQ requirements

• Conducting safety briefings and identifying and reporting site risks

• Organizing and participating in site meetings and progress reporting

• Resolving day-to-day construction challenges to keep projects progressing

• Coordinating with BIM and other technical project stakeholders

• Maintaining accurate records of labour, materials and construction progress

• Validating subcontractor claims and supporting project cost and budget follow-up

We're Looking For:

• A BTech or MTech in Construction Management, or a relevant Bachelor's or Master's qualification in Construction, Civil Engineering or Architecture

• A minimum of 5–7 years' experience as a Site Manager

• Proven experience independently managing construction sites and leading site teams

• Strong technical construction knowledge

• Excellent ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and relevant digital construction tools

• Strong leadership, planning, organizational and communication skills

• Experience coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and multiple project stakeholders

• A hands-on, proactive and solution-oriented approach

• South African citizenship

Essential Project Experience

Candidates must have proven hands-on experience delivering large-scale:

• Schools

• Hospitals

• Universities

• Institutional buildings

• Public building projects

Please note: Experience focused primarily on housing, residential complexes, roads or other civil infrastructure will not be considered equivalent to the project experience required for this position.

Strong experience working for an established main/general contractor is required. Experience gained with recognized contractors such as WBHO, Devcon, or organizations of a similar caliber would be particularly relevant.

Candidates must be able to provide a project reference list detailing the project name, project type and approximate project scale/budget.

Advantageous Experience:

• SACPCMP professional registration

• BIM and digital construction tools

• AutoCAD

• Large-scale institutional or public construction projects

• Experience working within established main/general contractor environments

Language Requirement

Proficiency in English and Afrikaans is preferred.

Candidate Requirements:

• Relevant construction management or technical qualification

• Minimum 5–7 years' relevant Site Manager experience

• Proven institutional/public building project experience

• Willing and able to relocate to Belgium

• Able to provide a portfolio/reference list of completed projects
