About the Role

An established manufacturing company within the printing and labelling industry is seeking an experienced Machine Operator to join its production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining flexographic printing equipment, ensuring efficient production, high-quality output, and compliance with operational, quality, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and prepare machines for production runs according to specifications.

• Operate flexographic and digital printing machinery in line with standard operating procedures.

• Ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining product quality standards.

• Conduct routine inspections, product sampling, and quality checks throughout production.

• Complete all production, shift, and traceability documentation accurately and timeously.

• Perform machine maintenance and tooling preparation as required.

• Inspect and review machine tooling to improve quality, productivity, and reduce waste.

• Identify and report equipment faults, production issues, and product defects.

• Complete end-of-run reporting and production records.

• Adhere to all housekeeping, health and safety, and quality management requirements.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the production environment.

• Assist with the training and development of Machine Assistants and junior operators.

• Ensure proper damage control procedures and reporting are followed.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric / Grade 12 or N3 qualification.

• Formal qualification as a Rotary Flexographic Machine Operator or related printing qualification.

• Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience operating machinery within the self-adhesive label manufacturing or flexographic printing industry.

• Proven experience operating Flexographic Printing Presses (experience on Gidue or similar equipment advantageous).

• Working knowledge of printing and packaging production processes.

• Experience working within ISO 9001 or similar Quality Management Systems.

• Exposure to Health, Safety, and Environmental Management Systems.

• Strong understanding of quality control processes and product inspection methods.

• Good verbal and written communication skills.

• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

• Willingness to work shifts when required.
