About Role:
Department: Short-Term Insurance
We are looking for an experienced Internal / Key Accounts Broker to join our Short-Term Insurance team.
The successful candidate will manage an existing portfolio of approximately 300 clients, providing proactive client service, underwriting support, renewals, re-broking and policy administration.
This is an office-based/inbound role with no external client visits. You will work closely with clients and leading insurers to ensure that policies remain appropriately structured, competitively priced and effectively managed.
Client & Portfolio Management
Manage and maintain an assigned portfolio of approximately 300 clients.
Build strong relationships with existing clients through proactive communication.
Understand client insurance requirements and provide appropriate solutions.
Conduct telephonic and Zoom consultations regarding policies, renewals and cover changes.
Underwriting & Quoting
Perform general underwriting and risk assessments.
Obtain and prepare competitive quotations.
Source and compare quotations from multiple insurers where required.
Handle both personal and commercial lines insurance.
Renewals & Retention
Manage the full policy renewal process.
Review existing cover, risk exposures and policy requirements.
Present renewal terms and alternative options to clients.
Proactively manage client retention and reduce policy lapses.
Policy Administration
Process policy endorsements and amendments accurately.
Manage policy cancellations and conduct exit discussions where applicable.
Identify opportunities to retain clients where possible.
Coordinate vehicle tracking device installations.
Arrange valuations where required to ensure adequate sums insured.
Process refunds accurately and timeously.
Premium & Payment Management
Monitor unpaid premiums and follow up with clients.
Liaise with clients and insurers to resolve outstanding payment issues.
Compliance
Maintain accurate client and policy records.
Ensure all activities comply with relevant legislative, regulatory and underwriting requirements.
Provide professional advice on cover options, excesses, policy terms and risk exposures.
Matric / Grade 12.
RE5 certification – compulsory.
NQF Level 4 qualification in Financial Services will be advantageous.
Minimum 2 years' underwriting experience.
