About the Opportunity

Qetello Holdings is recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established leader in the transport and logistics industry, for an experienced Line-Haul Fleet Controller.

This opportunity is ideal for a results-driven operations professional with strong fleet control experience, a solid understanding of long-distance transport operations, and proven diesel consumption management expertise.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of vehicles, driver coordination, route optimisation, compliance, and cost control across the line-haul fleet.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet & Operations Control

• Plan, manage, and optimise line-haul schedules to ensure on-time deliveries.
• Monitor vehicle movements and ensure adherence to routes and delivery timelines.
• Coordinate daily fleet activities with dispatch, workshop, and branch teams.
• Manage delays, route deviations, and operational disruptions effectively.
• Ensure maximum fleet utilisation and productivity.

Diesel Consumption Management

• Monitor and manage diesel usage across the fleet.
• Identify excessive fuel consumption, wastage, idling, or route inefficiencies.
• Implement fuel-saving initiatives and cost-control measures.
• Produce fuel reports and highlight trends or concerns to management.

Vehicle Maintenance & Compliance

• Coordinate servicing, repairs, and breakdown support with workshop teams.
• Ensure all vehicles remain roadworthy, licensed, and operationally compliant.
• Maintain accurate fleet records and documentation.
• Ensure adherence to transport legislation and company procedures.

Driver Management

• Supervise and support drivers to maintain productivity and accountability.
• Monitor driver behaviour, attendance, and compliance requirements.
• Assist with leave planning, shift allocations, and operational communication.

Reporting & Stakeholder Communication

• Provide regular operational updates to management.
• Liaise with clients regarding service delivery and delays where required.
• Resolve operational issues professionally and timeously.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric (Essential)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in fleet control / transport operations
• Strong experience in long-distance / line-haul fleet management
• Proven diesel consumption management experience
• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Good knowledge of transport compliance and road regulations
• Computer literate (Microsoft Office – Excel, Outlook, Word)
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
• Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment
