WatersEdge Solutions is partnering with a leading long-term insurance provider to recruit strategic and technically grounded IT Operations Manager to lead and enhance the IT Infrastructure, Support, and Facilities teams for a long-standing player in the South African insurance industry. This is a senior-level leadership role offering broad scope and visibility across business operations, IT compliance, and service delivery.
About the Role
As IT Operations Manager, you’ll oversee three core teams—Infrastructure, IT Support, and Facilities—ensuring robust systems, compliance, and high service standards. This role involves strategic planning, project execution, and mentoring of staff, while maintaining operational uptime, cost-efficiency, and business continuity. Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer, this is a pivotal opportunity to shape IT and facilities service excellence within a growth-focused organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the IT Infrastructure, Support, and Facilities teams
Ensure server, network, and infrastructure availability, performance, and compliance
Develop and enforce IT policies, security protocols, and disaster recovery planning
Oversee user support functions, software and hardware maintenance, and asset registers
Manage building operations, maintenance, and physical infrastructure
Monitor team performance, coach team members, and drive continuous improvement
Create and implement cost-effective, scalable processes aligned to strategic goals
Report on service delivery metrics, risks, and progress to senior leadership
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Facilities Management
Minimum 5 years’ experience in IT operations or facilities management at a leadership level
Proven ability to manage cross-functional infrastructure teams
Working knowledge of cybersecurity, building management systems, and IT compliance
Familiarity with IT service management tools, monitoring systems, and facility software
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills
Ability to lead through change and inspire high performance across diverse teams
Nice to Have
Experience with solar power systems, backup generators, and energy infrastructure
Practical understanding of cyber security frameworks and risk management
Experience with hybrid infrastructure models and automation tools
