Job Summary
Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a highly capable and commercially minded General Manager for an exciting new leisure and entertainment venue opening in the Hillcrest area. The concept will combine golf simulators, darts, a bar, retail/reception elements and a strong social and entertainment offering. This is not a golf professional role. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on operator who can take ownership of the business from pre-opening through to full operation. The successful candidate could come from a high-volume restaurant or QSR environment, entertainment or leisure venue, padel or sports facility, bar, club, lifestyle business or another busy customer-facing operation. Key Responsibilities Take ownership of the pre-opening operational setup Develop the staffing structure and recruit the opening team Plan rosters, shifts and management coverage Implement SOPs, controls and reporting structures Coordinate suppliers, stock, systems and operational readiness Lead; train and motivate the team Oversee the day-to-day operation once open Manage budgets, P&L, labour costs, stock and profitability Drive excellent guest experience and service standards Develop promotions, events and initiatives to increase footfall and repeat business Identify new revenue opportunities and ways to increase customer spend Provide concise operational and commercial reporting to ownership Candidate Requirements Proven management experience within a busy customer-facing operation Strong people leadership, recruitment and training experience Sound understanding of budgets, cost control and P&L management Experience with rostering, labour management and stock control Comfortable working with POS systems and operational reporting Commercially minded with a strong focus on revenue and profitability Hands-on; organised and solutions focused Confident working independently and taking ownership of results Comfortable working evenings, weekends and within a seven-day-a-week operation The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, highly operational and able to approach the venue as though it were their own business — identifying what needs to happen, putting a plan in place and making it happen. Salary: R50,000 – R60,000 CTC per month, with a performance-based incentive structure to be introduced.
