Data Engineer / SQL Developer (Cape Town)

About the Role

You will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust data solutions across SQL Server and Azure-based technologies. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across the full data lifecycle — from data ingestion and transformation to reporting and analytics — while ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability.

You will work closely with developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions in a dynamic agile environment.

Requirements

What You’ll Be Doing

• Developing and optimising high-quality SQL code and database solutions
  
• Building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines using SSIS and Azure Data Factory
  
• Supporting and enhancing existing data workflows and reporting systems
  
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
  
• Ensuring data integrity, validation, and reliability across systems
  
• Working within an Agile SDLC environment
  
• Implementing CI/CD practices using Azure DevOps
  
• Troubleshooting and improving production data processes
  

What You Bring

• 5–10 years’ experience in SQL development, database engineering, and Microsoft data technologies
  
• Strong hands-on experience with:
  • SQL Server (2016 or newer)
    
  • SSIS, SSRS, SSAS
    
  • Azure Data Factory
    
  • Azure DevOps & CI/CD pipelines
    
• Solid Power BI experience (reports, dashboards, semantic models)
  
• Strong understanding of SDLC and agile delivery environments
  
• Experience with data troubleshooting, optimisation, and performance tuning
  
• Strong scripting ability (advantageous)
