Fast Lane is an exciting new entertainment, restaurant and bar concept launching in Cape Town, combining a high-quality food and beverage offering with a premium, high-energy social entertainment experience. Our focus is on delivering excellent food, drinks and service in a vibrant, fast-paced environment where the restaurant and bar operation is a fundamental part of the overall guest experience. As we prepare to launch our first Cape Town venue, we are building an experienced management team capable of establishing strong operational standards from day one and developing Fast Lane into a leading hospitality and entertainment destination. Role Description We are looking for a highly experienced Restaurant Manager with a minimum of 10 years' restaurant industry experience to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of Fast Lane's restaurant and food & beverage offering in Cape Town. This is specifically a restaurant management position. We are looking for candidates who have built their careers in busy, high-volume restaurants, restaurant groups or premium casual dining environments. Candidates whose experience is predominantly within hotels will not be suitable for this role. The successful candidate will have substantial hands-on experience managing both front-of-house and back-of-house restaurant operations and will be comfortable taking ownership of service standards, staffing, training, cost control and the overall guest experience. This is a senior operational role requiring someone who is highly visible on the floor, leads from the front and understands what it takes to run a successful, busy restaurant operation. Key responsibilities will include: Managing the day-to-day restaurant and food & beverage operation. Leading and coordinating front-of-house and back-of-house teams. Recruiting; training, developing and managing restaurant staff. Creating staffing schedules and ensuring appropriate staffing levels throughout trading periods. Establishing and maintaining consistently high standards of food, beverage and customer service. Managing the guest experience and resolving customer issues quickly and professionally. Working closely with the kitchen team to ensure consistent food quality, presentation and speed of service. Managing suppliers, stock levels, inventory and purchasing. Monitoring food costs, beverage costs, labour costs, wastage and other key operational metrics. Implementing effective operational procedures and controls. Ensuring compliance with all relevant food safety, hygiene, health and safety requirements. Working closely with senior management to achieve revenue, profitability and customer satisfaction targets. Supporting the successful launch and ongoing development of Fast Lane Cape Town. Qualifications & Experience Minimum 10 years' experience within the restaurant industry is essential. Significant experience in a Restaurant Manager, General Manager or senior restaurant operations role . Experience should have been gained primarily within standalone restaurants, restaurant groups, premium casual dining or other high-volume restaurant operations rather than hotels . Proven experience managing busy, high-volume food and beverage operations. Strong understanding of both front-of-house and back-of-house restaurant operations . Demonstrable experience recruiting, training, motivating and managing sizeable restaurant teams. Excellent customer service skills with a strong understanding of how to create a consistently positive guest experience. Strong commercial understanding, including food and beverage margins, labour costs, inventory management, wastage and revenue targets. Experience implementing and maintaining restaurant operating procedures and service standards. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to command respect while creating a positive team culture. Highly organised, practical and solutions-focused, with the ability to remain calm and decisive during busy service periods. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and being actively involved in the operation rather than managing solely from an office. Experience opening a new restaurant or venue would be a strong advantage. Cape Town restaurant market experience and an established local network would be advantageous. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required by the business. This role requires candidates with direct; hands-on restaurant management experience . Candidates whose management experience is primarily within hotels or broader hospitality operations ; rather than dedicated restaurant environments, will not be considered for this position. Candidates must also be willing and able to provide verifiable references covering their previous employment ; together with any required police clearance/background checks .
