Job Summary
IOEC is seeking a Clearing and Forwarding coordinator to join their team in the Cape Town office.
The Clearing and Forwarding Coordinator is a key role within our organization, responsible for facilitating the efficient and compliant movement of goods through the export process. This position involves overseeing customs clearance, customs and OGA (Other Government Agencies) documentation, and coordinating the logistics of shipments to ensure smooth transit through international borders. The Clearing and Forwarding Coordinator should have a strong understanding of customs regulations, logistics, and exceptional attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the customs clearance process for export shipments, ensuring compliance with all relevant customs regulations and documentation requirements.
- Submit export documents and customs declarations. Advise on correct Inco Term usage. Obtaining permits, SADCs, GSP and EUR1 for applicable countries.
- Communicate and collaborate with customs authorities, and internal teams to resolve any clearance or shipment issues. Acquiring release from OGA departments (PPECB, DAFF, PORT HEALTH, STATE VET, DTI, NRCS AND ITAC). Framing entries and handling Customs queries.
- Ensure the accurate calculation and payment of customs duties, taxes, and other charges. Ensure accurate calculation and payment of customs duties, taxes, and other charges.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all clearing and forwarding activities.
- Stay updated on changes in customs regulations and trade compliance requirements.
- Assist in the resolution of customs-related issues, including discrepancies, penalties, and compliance concerns.
- Ensuring export documentation complies with required customs regulations.
- Assisting and rectifying HS Codes where necessary.
- Requesting authorization from TPT and TPNA, (Cargo dues and landing orders).
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all clearing and forwarding activities. (Bond Store)
- Ensuring IOEC is in good standing with Customs and OGAs.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in customs clearance and forwarding coordination.
- Strong understanding of customs regulations and trade compliance.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in using customs and logistics software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Knowledge of international shipping, freight, and logistics principles.
- Advantageous: Candidate living within the broader Northern Suburbs region, with an established local industry network
