Job Summary
Trade Ocean, situated in the Foreshore in Cape Town, is a multi-national customs clearing, freight forwarding and ships agency services. The Trade Ocean Group has branches in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Gqeberha and Walvis Bay in Namibia.
The company is looking for an HR and Admin Officer to join the team in the Shared Services Department, and will report to the HR Manager. The job incumbent is required to play a critical role in supporting the effective delivery of human resources and administrative services across the Trade Ocean Group in South Africa and Namibia.
DUTIES:
Recruitment and Selection:
- Administering the full administrative and operational HR recruitment process
- Developing and placing advertisements, shortlisting applications, conducting screening interviews, performing background checks
- Compiling employment contracts
- Onboarding and induction, probation interviews
Payroll and Benefits:
- Administering the full payroll input process and full benefits process
Learning and Development:
- Sourcing, administration and arrangement of Learning and Development plans (relevant accredited institutions and reports)
- Scheduling and arranging training sessions, record-keeping, ATR/WSP, etc.
Employee Relations and Compliance:
- Ensuring HR-related compliance (EE, Skills development, H&S) throughout all servicing entities
- Assisting with all general employee relations matters
Performance Management:
- Compiling job descriptions
- Collating performance appraisal outcomes
Staff Engagement:
- Assisting with engagement projects
- Conducting exit interviews
HR Compliance:
- Support compliance with legislation; BBBEE, BCEA, LRA, SDL, EEA, OHSA, Codes of Good Practice and International Standards
Employee Wellness:
- Promote organisational culture and values
- Create and implement employee wellness programmes & support the EVP
Administrative Processes:
- Taking responsibility for HR-related administration outputs and alignment with business policies and processes
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology or similar (Honour’s degree / relevant postgraduate qualification will be advantageous)
- At least 3-5 years of operational experience in a Human Resources role
- Experience in Human Resource Information Systems will be advantageous
- Computer literate (MS Office, intermediate to advanced Excel skills)
- Experience operating / using payroll systems
- Experience in a shared services business environment will be advantageous
- Excellent organising, planning and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
- High energy, proactive and a sense of urgency
- Ability to meet strict deadlines, prioritise and multitask
- Flexible, adaptable and able to pivot quickly
- Able to maintain confidentiality, high standards, good work ethic and integrity
