Our client is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technician – HVAC to lead maintenance engineering activities across a diverse portfolio of HVAC and building management systems. You will be responsible for asset lifecycle management, maintenance strategy development, system recommissioning, engineering audits, and technical support to regional teams. This role combines hands-on engineering expertise with strategic planning, ensuring systems operate reliably, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will work extensively with CMMS (SAP), manage engineering documentation, perform heat load and ventilation calculations, and support projects from a Compliance, Constructability, Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (CCRAM) perspective. Frequent travel to sites across the Western Cape and beyond will be required.

What You’ll Do

• Provide advanced maintenance engineering support for HVAC and ventilation systems
• Investigate plant failures and perform root-cause analysis
• Recommission HVAC and building management systems to original design standards
• Develop and maintain maintenance strategies, job plans, and engineering instructions
• Conduct site inspections, asset verifications, and condition assessments
• Perform heat load, cooling capacity, and ventilation calculations
• Manage CMMS (SAP) asset data and planned maintenance schedules
• Compile technical reports, incident investigations, and funding motivations
• Review project specifications from a CCRAM engineering perspective
• Support service contract development and vendor performance
• Produce monthly data centre engineering reports
• Participate in technical meetings with clients and stakeholders

What You Bring

• BTech Degree, S4, or N6 in Mechanical, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering
• Grade 12
• Refrigeration and Air Conditioning qualification
• Electrical qualification or trade test advantageous
• Valid Code B driver’s licence
• 10–15 years’ experience in HVAC design and maintenance
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and building management systems
• Proficiency in SAP CMMS and Microsoft Office
• Experience with technical report writing and failure investigations
• Solid understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and relevant SANS standards
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
