Job Summary
Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a professional and guest-focused Duty Manager to join a luxury 5-star hotel situated in the Southern Suburbs. This role is ideal for an experienced hospitality professional who enjoys engaging with guests, leading a team, and ensuring the smooth running of daily hotel operations. The successful candidate will maintain exceptional service standards, support multiple departments, and confidently handle guest requests, feedback, and operational challenges. Key Responsibilities Oversee the daily operation of the hotel and ensure that service standards are consistently maintained Communicate with guests throughout their stay and provide attentive, personalised service Handle guest enquiries, requests, feedback, and complaints professionally and efficiently Monitor and respond to guest comments and ensure appropriate follow-up Lead; support, and motivate team members across the operation Assist with training and developing employees Check guests in on arrival and complete the check-out process upon departure Operate the hotel’s OPERA Cloud property management system Assist with guest accounts and handle hotel and guest funds responsibly Respond to email and telephone enquiries in a professional and timely manner Operate the switchboard and direct calls to the appropriate departments Assist with restaurant bookings and hotel reservations Maintain a thorough knowledge of the hotel’s room categories, facilities, layout, and guest offerings Support the Food and Beverage department during meal periods when required Liaise effectively between departments to ensure a seamless guest experience Assist with implementing operational and strategic initiatives Remain visible and available to both guests and team members throughout the shift Requirements Post-matric hotel school or hospitality qualification Minimum of three years’ experience within a 5-star hotel or similar luxury hospitality environment Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership position would be advantageous Working knowledge of OPERA Cloud Strong computer literacy Excellent verbal and written communication skills High level of English proficiency Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving abilities Ability to train, motivate, and develop a team Trustworthy and confident when handling guest accounts and money Able to remain calm and professional under pressure Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays Enthusiastic; energetic, and guest-focused approach Positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team Own reliable transport would be preferable This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated hospitality professional to develop their leadership experience within a high-end hotel environment.
