Role Overview

We are seeking a Data Governance Consultant to support the development and implementation of strategies to institutionalise Data Governance and Knowledge Management. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders to establish governance frameworks, review policies and strategies, formalise data governance structures, and support organisational change initiatives in alignment with Provincial and National strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate requirements gathering, documentation, stakeholder engagement, and change management activities.
  
• Review and assess existing data management policies, frameworks, and strategies, identifying opportunities for improvement and alignment with industry best practices.
  
• Assist with the implementation of data governance structures, including:
  
  • Defining governance roles and responsibilities.
    
  • Developing terms of reference.
    
  • Establishing governance committees and reporting mechanisms.
    
  • Facilitating stakeholder workshops.
    
• Develop and formalize enterprise data taxonomies.
  
• Create and maintain a comprehensive data dictionary and data asset inventory.
  
• Develop and implement a Knowledge Management maturity roadmap aligned with recognised governance frameworks and organisational objectives.
  
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to ensure enterprise architecture principles support strategic business goals.
  
• Produce high-quality documentation, governance artefacts, and strategic recommendations.
  

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• NQF Level qualification or higher.
  
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in Data Governance, Enterprise Architecture, or a related information management role
  
• Minimum of 1 year's experience as a Solutions Architect.Experience with data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
  
• Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and communication skills.
  
• Experience with governance structures, policy development, and organisational change management.
