WHAT YOU WILL DO
Lead the full finance lifecycle: month-end close, management accounts, forecasts, cashflow and payments.
Build and maintain internal control frameworks, approval matrices and finance policies (procurement, spend governance, data protection).
Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet and cashflow reporting, plus variance analysis and rolling forecasts.
Create dashboards and models (Syft/Xero/BI tools) to track cash runway, burn rate, margins, customer acquisition cost and other KPIs.
Partner with the CEO and business leads on annual budgets, quarterly reforecasts, scenario planning and board reporting.
Work with Marketing on ROI and acquisition metrics, and support pricing and margin optimisation.
Own the payments process (supplier payments, payroll, statutory disbursements), preparing approval packs for amounts above agreed thresholds.
Manage the in-house Finance Administrator (debtors/creditors, reconciliations, data uploads) and coordinate with the outsourced accounting firm and auditors.
Lead statutory compliance and filings (VAT, PAYE, income tax), liaise with SARS and external reviewers, and drive remediation of any findings.
Oversee cashflow forecasting, banking relationships and working capital to ensure liquidity for growth.
Coach and develop the finance administrator and plan to scale a compact, effective finance team over a 2–3 year horizon.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Demonstrable track record of establishing or improving finance functions in SMEs or fast growing startups, including introducing controls and automations (cloud accounting, reporting tools).
Practical experience across full-cycle finance: reporting, forecasting, treasury, payments and compliance.
Strong financial modelling and spreadsheet skills (Google Sheets / Excel) and familiarity with cloud ERPs.
Comfortable presenting to founders, CEO and board members and influencing non-finance stakeholders.
Structured thinker with attention to detail, commercial instincts and the ability to deliver under tight deadlines.
Experience working across multiple sites or in other African countries is an advantage.
Minimum 3 years post-articles experience in finance leadership roles is preferred.
Ptrofessional Designation: CA(SA) / ACMA,CGMA
Postgraduate business or finance qualification (MBA or similar) is highly desirable.
