Kendrick Recruitment is seeking an experienced and dynamic Club General Manager to lead premium luxury fitness and wellness centres across multiple regions. This senior leadership role is responsible for delivering exceptional member experiences, driving operational and commercial performance, and building high-performing teams aligned with the brand’s culture and values.
Key Requirements
NSC Matric Certificate (essential)
Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Hospitality, or Retail (NQF 7)
Minimum of 6 years’ experience as a Club General Manager or Hospitality/General Manager within premium or luxury hospitality, country club, or retail environments
Completion of internal leadership programmes is essential
Proven commercial acumen with solid financial and project management skills
Strong understanding of local markets, competitor landscapes, and demographics
Minimum of 4 years’ team and people management experience
Exceptional customer relations, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
Strong understanding of People/HR procedures, including recruitment, development, performance management, and coaching
Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced, pressurised environments
Emotional intelligence, cultural awareness, empathy, and adaptability
High digital fluency and proficiency with management systems
Ensure club profitability, revenue growth, and EBITDA achievement
Reduce member churn through strategic engagement initiatives
Drive ancillary revenue streams including personal trainers, health professionals, and swim/tenant services
Manage club capital investment projects and ROI
Oversee operating expenses via P&L management
Mitigate business risk through compliance with company policies and procedures
Facility Management
Maintain premium brand standards across all equipment, floor areas, and facilities
Ensure operational procedures, health, and safety standards are consistently met
Oversee maintenance, utilities management, and preventative maintenance programmes
Deliver a holistic wellness experience for all members
People Management
Recruit, develop, and manage high-performing staff aligned with the company mission and values
Manage tenants and contractors in line with the social wellness proposition
Promote a high-performance team culture, including training, engagement, and performance management
Ensure staff adherence to policies, procedures, and company code of conduct
Member Experience and Service
Deliver exceptional member experiences, ensuring staff anticipate and exceed member expectations
Oversee group exercise programmes and in-club services
Resolve member queries and complaints professionally, creating memorable experiences
Implement and uphold a customer-centric culture throughout the club
Competitor Analysis
Monitor competitor activity and mitigate risk
Conduct monthly analysis of the competitive landscape and report insights to senior management
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Net member growth and retention
Club operating expenses within budget
Achievement of financial targets (Revenue and EBITDA)
Facility management and health & safety compliance
People management, including culture, recruitment, development, engagement, and performance
Customer experience metrics (CSAT, NPS, retention, wellbeing)
Product performance, including group exercise penetration
Audit compliance and risk management
