Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced COBOL to Java Migration Specialist with strong expertise in Oracle Customer Care and Billing (CC&B) to support a large-scale legacy system modernization project. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of COBOL, hands-on experience with Oracle CC&B (preferably version 2.6), and proven Java development skills. The role involves interpreting and converting COBOL-based logic to modern Java applications, with an emphasis on ensuring functional parity, performance, and maintainability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze and interpret legacy COBOL code, including syntax, logic, and structure.
  

• Convert COBOL-based business logic into efficient and scalable Java applications.
  

• Work within Oracle CC&B (Customer Care and Billing) environment, ensuring consistency with its architecture and configurations.
  

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy during migration and integration with Oracle databases.
  

• Identify gaps and recommend enhancements during the COBOL-to-Java transformation.
  

• Assist in planning, testing, and validating the converted modules for production readiness.
  

• Document technical specifications, conversion logic, and system configurations.
  

Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

COBOL Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of COBOL programming syntax, structures, and business logic.
  

• Demonstrated experience on COBOL-based projects (must appear on résumé).
  

• Work experience with companies or government bodies using COBOL-based systems.
  

Oracle CC&B Experience:

• In-depth knowledge of Oracle CC&B (version 2.6 or similar).
  

• Experience with CC&B's architecture, configuration, and business processes.
  

• Hands-on project experience with Oracle CC&B (must be clearly detailed).
  

• Oracle CC&B-related certifications are a strong advantage.
  

Java Development Expertise:

• Proficient in Java programming, particularly in Java EE.
  

• Experience with Spring, Hibernate, and other Java enterprise frameworks.
  

• Ability to translate COBOL logic to object-oriented Java code efficiently.
  

Database Management:

• Proficiency with Oracle Database, including schema conversion and data migration.
  

• Experience in writing SQL queries and managing database performance.
  

• Understanding of data handling requirements during legacy-to-modern migration.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with utility billing systems or large-scale enterprise system migrations.
  

• Knowledge of cloud migration practices (AWS, Azure, or OCI).
  

• Familiarity with integration tools and APIs for CC&B.
