A leading South African asset management organisation, responsible for managing large-scale investments across multiple sectors of the economy, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Advisor (Properties Legal) to join its legal team.
This role sits within a fast-paced investment environment focused on property and infrastructure-related transactions, requiring a seasoned legal professional with strong commercial acumen and property law expertise.
Purpose of the RoleTo provide end-to-end legal advisory services on property-related investments, including corporate and commercial legal matters, complex transactions, due diligence, structuring, and governance support within a property investment environment.
Minimum RequirementsLLB degree (LLM advantageous)
Admitted Attorney of the High Court
6–8 years post-admission experience
Strong background in corporate/commercial law with specialisation in property law
Solid understanding of asset management, property development, infrastructure, and project finance
Experience in governance, compliance, and conveyancing
Proven ability to draft, negotiate, and implement complex property investment agreements
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide legal advice on property investment and commercial transactions
Draft, review, and negotiate property-related agreements
Conduct and manage legal due diligence processes
Advise on structuring, restructuring, and security perfection of investments
Oversee conveyancing matters including transfers, bonds, and servitudes
Manage external legal service providers and conveyancers
Support dispute resolution (litigation/arbitration) where required
Advise on legal and regulatory developments impacting investments
Deliver training and guidance to internal stakeholders
