Key Responsibilities
Stay up to date with product, industry, and regulatory knowledge to support effective underwriting decisions.
Provide regular feedback to customers and stakeholders in line with agreed service level standards.
Interpret and process technical short‑term insurance information accurately.
Receive, assess, and finalise instructions from brokers, clients, and internal departments.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Capture and update all tasks on the task management system.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure consistent service delivery.
Maintain quality assurance processes and address any shortcomings.
Operate strictly within mandate and compliance requirements.
Compile and generate reports as required by management.
Ensure annual CPD hours are completed and adhere to FSCA regulations, including POPIA and Fit & Proper requirements.
Minimum Requirements
3–5 years’ Commercial Lines underwriting experience
RE5
Class of Business – Commercial Lines
Full NQF4 qualification (with relevant FAIS credits)
Preferred system experience: TIAL
Underwriting Duties
Receive and finalise instructions from brokers and clients in line with SLA requirements.
Issue policies according to new business workflow processes.
Process quotes, new business, amendments, endorsements, cancellations, and client queries.
Action renewals and corrective actions within required timelines.
Adhere to all internal and external processes, guidelines, mandates, and SLAs.
Support client retention through accurate underwriting and strong relationship management.
