Job Summary
An established group that manages a leading portfolio of premium wine properties in the Stellenbosch region, is looking to appoint a Cost Accountant to their team at their offices in Stellenbosch.
The ideal candidate will have completed a relevant degree or diploma and an added benefit will be a SAIPA or CIMA professional qualification. Candidates qualified by experience in a related role and industry will also be considered. Experience with ERP systems such as Business Central, Navision, Oracle, or similar will be an added benefit, and experience in the Wine, Agri, or FMCG sector will be a plus.

Purpose of the role:
Calculate accurate manufacturing costs so that the correct selling price and gross margins can be established, ensure accurate stock intake on WineMS and BC and assist with general accounting functions in the finance department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review accuracy of stock counts for all winehouses
- Verify that the stock counts received are correct and accurate.
- Analyse variances and identify reasons for discrepancies and report to the cost accountant.
Production orders and analysis of input costs
- Update POR’s in BC – ensure correct stock items consumed and produced.
- Ensure correct costs and quantities are used.
- Query discrepancies and follow up daily/weekly on outstanding POR’s.
- Recordkeeping & comparison of prices of new and existing suppliers; Compilation of supplier pricing.
- File (Costing Masterfile).
- Analyse finished stock pricing.
Bulk wine management
- Create Purchase and Wine delivery in WineMS for Bulk wine.
- Ensure accurate quantities and costs are captured on Wine MS for bulk wine.
- Match Invoices to PO’s and Wine deliveries.
- For FT wines ensure all documents comply.
Reconciliations & Accounting
Accounting duties:
- Assist with month end processes.
- Accountable for the processing of bank statements.
- Assist Financial Manager with the financial audit working papers and queries.
Reconciliations:
- Perform and post of monthly bank reconciliations – all local accounts and credit cards.
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with intercompany reconciliations and journals.
Dry goods (inventory creditors)
- Accurate capturing of creditors documents on the System.
- Communication with suppliers with regards to account and payments.
- Reconciliation between system and supplier statement.
- Prepare and load payment on bank for approval.
- Administering intercompany creditor accounts.
Compliance
Quarterly Stats SA financial questionnaire.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree or Diploma in Financial Accounting , Management and Cost Accounting, or similar.
- Professional qualification preferred – SAIPA or CIMA.
- Minimum 3 years experience.
- 3 – 5 years general cost management and financial accounting and administration experience in a financial corporate environment.
- Experience in manufacturing industry will be beneficial.
- Previous experience working with Business Central, Navision, or similar ERP will be beneficial.
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software.
- Sector experience in the Wine, Agri, or related industry will be a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and deadline driven.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Remuneration:
R300,000 to R420,000 per annum, negotiable depending on experience.
