Accountant – Student Portfolio

About the role:

An established and growing property investment organisation is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join its Student Portfolio finance team. This role is suited to an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working across multiple entities, and has strong financial reporting and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily accounting and financial processing activities across multiple entities within the student accommodation portfolio.
• Import, reconcile, and maintain financial information from various systems within the accounting platform.
• Prepare monthly Management Accounts and supporting schedules.
• Analyse actual performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying and explaining variances.
• Prepare VAT calculations and reconciliations and assist with responding to tax authority queries.
• Compile annual audit files and provide support during audit processes.
• Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts and monitor cash flow performance.
• Prepare tax computations and supporting documentation.
• Prepare and review Annual Financial Statements.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Assist with month-end and year-end reporting requirements.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal financial controls.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant Accounting qualification; Accounting Degree advantageous.
• 2–3 years’ relevant accounting experience.
• Experience within the property, real estate, or related industry will be advantageous.
• Working knowledge of MDA or similar property management/accounting software advantageous.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
