Our client, a rapidly growing technology business operating across multiple African markets, is looking for a Financial Accountant to join their Cape Town-based team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career finance professional with strong accounting foundations who enjoys working across a broad range of finance responsibilities. The role combines financial accounting, audit and tax support, statutory compliance, cross-border finance and process improvement, with a particular focus on using technology and AI to build more efficient and scalable finance processes.
Responsibilities:
Support group audits, tax submissions and statutory filings across multiple legal entities.
Coordinate audit requests, supporting documentation and governance records.
Assist with payment processes, approval workflows and reconciliations.
Provide support with month-end processes and recurring financial reporting.
Maintain finance trackers, compliance calendars, checklists and document repositories.
Assist with intercompany balances, entity funding flows, FX exposure, management recharges and related-party documentation.
Coordinate with auditors, tax and legal advisers, accountants, payment providers and internal stakeholders across different countries.
Monitor deliverables, deadlines and outstanding information and escalate potential delays.
Identify opportunities to improve and standardise finance processes.
Use AI and automation tools to improve documentation, reporting, trackers and repeatable finance workflows.
Support the Finance team in building effective, controlled and scalable financial processes.
Requirements
Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or a related field.
Professional training such as CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA, CPA, completed articles or audit experience is strongly preferred.
Recently qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
0–2 years’ relevant post-training experience.
Strong accounting and financial reporting fundamentals.
Experience or exposure to audit, tax, statutory compliance, reconciliations and financial controls.
Financial Services, fintech, lending, multi-entity or emerging-market experience would be advantageous.
Exposure to VAT, withholding tax, income tax, transfer pricing or cross-border finance would be beneficial.
Strong spreadsheet and data-handling skills.
Comfortable using technology and ideally AI and automation tools to improve finance processes, or a strong interest in developing these capabilities.
Highly organised with strong follow-through and attention to detail.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Proactive, practical and comfortable taking ownership in a fast-paced environment.
