Based in the Modderfontein / Greenstone area, this role sits within a well-established construction-focused organisation where projects are at the heart of the business. You will play a key role in ensuring cost accuracy, supporting financial processes, and contributing to overall project profitability.

This is not a purely back-office role. You will be closely involved with operational teams, applying costing principles in a real-time, project-driven environment while maintaining a strong foundation in financial accounting.

Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement and refine activity-based costing methodologies
Monitor and analyse project costs, identifying trends and variances
Support month-end processes, including journals and reconciliations
Assist with financial reporting and ensure accuracy of cost data
Collaborate with project and operational teams on cost allocation
Maintain and enhance ERP and costing systems

Job Experience and Skills Required:

Education:
Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance or related field

Experience:
Experience in a Cost Accounting role within construction or a similar project-based industry
Strong exposure to activity-based costing (ABC)
Experience supporting financial accounting functions
Comfortable working in a dynamic, project-focused environment

Skills:
Advanced Excel skills (essential)
Experience with Syspro or similar ERP systems
Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail
Ability to interpret large volumes of data and provide meaningful insights

Non-negotiables:
Solid understanding of costing principles and methodologies
Ability to operate in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
High levels of accuracy and accountability
