Job Description
The Software Engineer is responsible for the design, development, testing, and maintenance of web applications utilising the Angular framework within the Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) technology stack. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable software solutions that meet business requirements and comply with industry regulations. The individual contributes to the continuous improvement of development processes, ensuring robust, secure, and efficient code.
Job Duties

- · Develop Angular components/modules for features committed to per Programme Increment
- · Implement responsive UI aligned to approved designs.
- · Write unit tests (Jasmine/Karma) for new components
- · Participate in peer code reviews
- · Maintain adherence to Angular style guide and team coding standards
- · Refactor legacy code identified in tech debt backlog
- · Contribute frontend architecture input to solution design (inception deck)
- · Ensure UI component reuse and consistency across the application
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrable proficiency in Angular framework and related web technologies (HTML5, CSS3, TypeScript, JavaScript).
- Strong understanding of software development life cycle methodologies including Agile and Scrum.
- Experience with RESTful APIs and integration of front-end applications with backend services.
- Familiarity with version control systems, preferably Git.
- Good understanding of responsive design principles and cross-browser compatibility.
- Proven ability to write well-structured and optimised code.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field is essential. Equivalent professional qualifications or relevant experience may be considered.
Experience
- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience developing web applications using Angular.
- Previous exposure to the banking and finance sector is highly advantageous.
- Experience working within Corporate and Investment Banking technology environments is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.
Knowledge and Skills
- In-depth knowledge of Angular framework features and best practises.
- Understanding of software architecture principles and design patterns.
- Familiarity with testing frameworks such as Jasmine and Karma.
- Knowledge of security considerations and data protection standards relevant to banking applications.
- Ability to effectively prioritise tasks and manage time in a dynamic environment.
- Strong teamwork skills with the capacity to work independently when required.
