Isilumko Staffing is seeking an experienced Reconciliations Specialist to join our operations team on a fixed-term basis, covering for a team member on maternity leave. This role is vital for maintaining the integrity of complex reconciliation processes within a fast-paced financial environment. Key Responsibilities
- Perform intricate reconciliations for high-volume cash, position, and data flows, identifying unmatched items and resolving exceptions (“breaks”).
- Investigate, analyse, and document discrepancies, working closely with internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct root cause analysis and escalate unresolved issues following established protocols.
- Review and validate reconciliations, ensuring prompt batch completion.
- Collaborate with teams such as trade desk, settlements, and product control.
- Support and guide team members, sharing operational knowledge where needed.
- Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement within the reconciliation function.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in financial reconciliations, ideally within banking or financial services.
- Strong working knowledge of reconciliation systems (such as Intellimatch, Murex Core) and advanced Excel skills (formulas, PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, conditional formatting).
- Familiarity with the end-to-end trade lifecycle and both local and foreign markets.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Matric required; finance or accounting diploma preferred.
