Job Summary
We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Storeman to take full ownership of the stores function within a busy engineering and manufacturing environment. This is a senior, hands-on role suited to someone who thrives on structure, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Stock Control & Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate stock records and oversee all stock control processes
- Monitor stock levels and raise procurement requirements
- Ensure proper tagging, identification, and traceability of materials
- Conduct cycle counts and full stocktakes
- Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies
- Ensure correct and safe storage of materials
Receiving & Incoming Materials
- Oversee receiving and inspection of incoming goods
- Verify deliveries against purchase orders and documentation
- Ensure quality checks and correct tagging before acceptance
- Capture GRNs accurately within the system
Issuing & Material Control
- Manage accurate issuing of materials to workshop and project teams
- Maintain traceability of materials to specific jobs/projects
- Enforce strong material control procedures
Stores Organisation & Housekeeping
- Maintain a structured, well-organised stores environment
- Ensure high standards of housekeeping and safety
- Ensure all materials are clearly labelled and easily accessible
Systems & Process Improvement
- Drive improvements in stores systems and inventory processes
- Ensure accurate capturing and reporting of stock movements
- Assist in implementing improved procedures and controls
Team Leadership
- Supervise and guide stores staff where applicable
- Lead by example with a hands-on approach
- Ensure adherence to stores procedures and discipline
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with engineering, production, and procurement teams
- Ensure materials are available when required
- Build strong cross-functional relationships
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Proven experience as a Senior Storeman / Stores Supervisor / Warehouse Supervisor in an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of stock control and inventory systems
- Experience with materials traceability and tagging
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Ability to lead while remaining hands-on
- High attention to detail and accountability
- Valid driver’s licence
Advantageous
- Qualification in Logistics / Warehousing / Supply Chain
- Experience with ERP or automated inventory systems
- Exposure to engineering or fabrication environments
