Our client is a growing player in the renewable energy sector, specialising in solar PV and battery energy storage solutions (BESS). The business offers a dynamic, hands-on environment where junior engineers are mentored and exposed to the full project lifecycle—from concept to commercial proposal.
Duties:Translate client requirements, electricity data, and site information into clear technical project briefs.
Conduct site visits to gather data, assess constraints, and understand client needs in detail.
Produce preliminary solar and BESS system designs using HelioScope and internal tools.
Develop energy and financial models to quantify savings, payback periods, and return on investment.
Compile costings and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) using company systems and supplier inputs.
Request, evaluate, and compare supplier quotations for accurate project costing.
Package technical designs, models, and costing information for proposal development.
Support tender costing and contribute to proposal preparation.
Stay up to date with industry trends, technologies, and standards within the solar and BESS space.
Job Experience and Skills Required:BEng or BTech in Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical Engineering, or related field
0–3 years’ experience (recent graduates welcome)
Strong interest in renewable energy and willingness to learn
Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with strong Excel modelling capability
High attention to detail, particularly in costing and BOQ development
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with commercial teams
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to sites
Advantageous:Exposure to HelioScope, PVsyst, or similar PV design software
Understanding of South African electricity tariffs (Eskom, municipal TOU structures)
Familiarity with SANS / NRS standards related to embedded generation
Knowledge of battery storage applications such as peak shaving and energy arbitrage
