Job Summary
Our Client in the Automotive and Manufacturing Industry is seeking to employ an experienced Credit Manager, to their team based in Elandsfontein (East Rand).
Requirements:
- National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting (NQF 7).
- Credit Management Diploma from the Institute of Credit Management of South Africa is highly advantageous.
- 5 – 8 years of progressive experience in credit control or credit management.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a supervisory or management role.
- Experience in a manufacturing, FMCG, or sales-driven environment is preferred.
- Proven experience managing large debtor books and trade credit risk.
Responsibilities, but not limited to:
Credit Risk Management
- Develop and maintain credit policies and procedures.
- Conduct credit assessments for new and existing customers.
- Approve or recommend credit limits and payment terms in line with policy.
- Monitor credit exposure and portfolio risk on an ongoing basis.
- Maintain accurate customer risk ratings and ensure compliance with credit terms.
Accounts Receivable Management
- Oversee daily debtor collections and ensure accurate allocation of payments.
- Review debtor age analysis and implement corrective actions for overdue accounts.
- Negotiate and manage payment arrangements when required.
- Liaise with sales teams to resolve disputed invoices.
- Recommend write-offs and provisions in accordance with policy.
Customer Relationship and Support
- Communicate credit terms clearly to customers.
- Resolve customer account queries promptly and professionally.
- Support customers with documentation and payment arrangements.
- Attend key account review meetings to manage credit-related risks.
Contract Administration
- Oversee contract administration including tracking, renewals, and closures.
- Ensure contract documentation is accurate, secure, and audit-ready.
- Monitor contract milestones and ensure timely action.
- Identify process improvements and support training initiatives.
- Liaise with legal, procurement, and finance teams to resolve escalated issues.
- Hold staff accountable for contract administration KPIs.
Corporate Governance, Risk and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with the National Credit Act and POPIA.
- Implement and monitor internal controls over credit and collections.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and address findings.
- Maintain departmental risk registers and mitigation plans.
- Ensure compliance with labour legislation, SHEQ standards, and ethical frameworks.
- Review and update credit procedures regularly.
Reporting and Analytics
- Prepare monthly credit and debtor reports for management.
- Analyse trends in collections, bad debt, and credit exposure.
- Recommend corrective actions based on data analysis.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools where applicable.
Strategic Contribution
- Participate in strategy formulation and policy development.
- Advise management on credit trends and business impact.
- Support product and market expansion through credit risk assessment.
- Implement automation and digital solutions to improve efficiency.
Stakeholder/People Management
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent the business in stakeholder engagements.
- Provide guidance on credit, compliance, and governance matters.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the credit and administration team.
- Manage recruitment, training, performance reviews, and succession planning.
- Address employee relations matters fairly and promptly.
- Ensure alignment with HR policies and labour legislation.
- Promote organisational culture, values, and accountability.
