Residential Development Manager
Main Purpose of the Role
The Residential Development Manager is responsible for identifying, evaluating, planning, and executing residential development projects from inception to completion. The role oversees all phases of the development lifecycle, including:
- Land acquisition
- Financial structuring
- Design coordination
- Construction management
- Project handover
The role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards. The ideal candidate should have strong leadership, financial acumen, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Minimum Education & Qualifications
- Matric / Grade 12
- Bachelor’s degree in Property Development, Construction Management, Real Estate, or a related field.
Experience
- 7–10 years’ experience in Residential Property Development, with at least 3 years in a senior project/development role.
- Proven success in delivering full lifecycle residential developments.
- Strong working knowledge of development regulations, planning laws, and construction practices.
- Proven ability to manage professional teams, contractors, and multiple projects.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong financial acumen and budget management.
- Good understanding of the full property development lifecycle.
- Conflict resolution and stakeholder negotiation.
- Strong leadership skills and team management experience.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Computer literacy – Excel (Intermediate), Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with project software (MS Project, AutoCAD, project management platforms).
