Job Summary
Our client seeks an Electrical Engineer or Technologist for their East London office. The salary is market-related and based on experience and qualifications.
Requirements
- Conduct condition assessments of electrical installations and provide detailed reports.
- Plan, design, and administer contracts from inception to completion for building services and engineering projects.
- Compile and deliver comprehensive reports at all project stages, including Project Inception, Concept and Viability, Design, tender evaluation, progress, financial status, and project close-out.
- Manage the day-to-day administration associated with active projects.
- Design electrical building services including lighting, small power, site reticulation, fire detection, ICT, electronic security systems, backup power and Solar PV.
- Design electrical elements of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including pump stations, rising mains, and pipeline systems.
- Prepare Bills of Quantities, Technical Specifications.
- Administer electrical engineering contracts and act as the Engineer’s Representative as defined by the contract terms.
- Provide construction oversight, ensure quality control, and facilitate the clarification of design-related issues.
- Monitor construction progress to guarantee design adherence and quality and expedite design clarifications as needed.
- Address technical queries, resolve issues, and lead site and technical meetings, including preparing meeting minutes.
- Review contractors’ Quality Control Plans and Construction Method Statements to ensure compliance and quality.
- Prepare payment valuations and measure electrical installations.
- Maintain frequent communication with all project professionals and clients.
- Assist in resolving technical queries in collaboration with other stakeholders.
- Support project safety and environmental compliance throughout the construction phase.
- Undertake general office and project-related administrative tasks as required.
Added Requirements
- Possess at least a B.Eng, B.Sc (Eng), or B-Tech Eng. Degree in electrical or electronic engineering.
Applicants with an ECSA registration as Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng with at least three (3) years of post-registration experience will be given preference, but unregistered applicants with at least ten (10) years of post-qualification experience will be considered if they are eligible for registration within two years.
- Demonstrate experience in the design and management of building services projects and engineering projects.
- Have experience in building service projects, including lighting, small power, site reticulation, fire detection, ICT, electronic security systems, backup power and Solar PV.
- Be familiar with Building Information Modelling (BIM) software, such as Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- Be proficient in Autocad; experience with Revit MEP is advantageous.
- Valid driver’s license.
