This role sits at the core of a busy industrial relations practice, providing comprehensive, office-based legal support to attorneys and consultants engaged in hearings, arbitrations, and court proceedings. You will take ownership of the full drafting lifecycle across employment law matters, ensuring that all documentation is accurate, compliant, and litigation-ready. From pleadings and opinions to policies and retrenchment documentation, your work will directly influence case outcomes and client success.

You will also act as a key point of contact for clients, managing queries, coordinating matter logistics, and ensuring seamless preparation for external proceedings. This is a high-volume, high-responsibility role requiring deep subject matter expertise, exceptional written communication, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines without compromising quality.

What You’ll Do

• Draft a wide range of legal documentation, including pleadings, affidavits, heads of argument, contracts, policies, and settlement agreements
• Prepare CCMA and Labour Court documentation, including bundles, submissions, and review applications
• Develop disciplinary, incapacity, and retrenchment documentation aligned with current legislation
• Produce legal opinions, advisory memoranda, and case law research
• Manage client queries, provide initial guidance, and coordinate instructions
• Oversee matter logistics, including filings, deadlines, and document management
• Maintain compliance with Labour Court Rules and electronic filing systems
• Support knowledge management through research, templates, and training materials

What You Bring

• LLB degree and admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa (or equivalent experience)
• 5–8 years’ experience in labour law with a strong drafting focus
• Proven expertise in drafting litigation and employment law documentation
• In-depth knowledge of LRA, BCEA, EEA, Immigration Act, and the 2025 Code of Good Practice
• Strong understanding of CCMA, bargaining council, and Labour Court procedures
• Proficiency in Court Online/Caselines and MS Office tools
• Exceptional written English and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple matters under pressure with minimal supervision
