Job Summary
Factory Storeman – Pretoria
Our client in the medical devices manufacturing industry is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Factory Storeman to join their warehouse team in Pretoria.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the movement, control, and accuracy of raw materials and finished goods stock within the warehouse and factory environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring stock integrity, operational efficiency, quality compliance, and adherence to health & safety standards.
Key Responsibilities Stock & Inventory Control
- Issue raw materials to the factory according to work orders and production requirements
- Receive finished goods from production and ensure correct warehouse put-away
- Perform daily stock counts and investigate stock variances
- Maintain accurate inventory records and warehouse transactions on the stock management system
- Conduct bin transfers and stock movements according to company procedures
- Manage raw material and returned goods storage areas
- Raise non-conformance reports where stock or materials do not meet specifications
Receiving & Dispatch
- Receive and inspect incoming stock from suppliers
- Verify quantities, lot numbers, expiry dates, and documentation
- Pick, check, pack, and prepare customer orders for dispatch
- Load and unload stock, pallets, containers, and vehicles safely
- Ensure all outgoing shipments are correctly labelled and dispatched on time
- Process customer and supplier returns accurately
Warehouse Operations
- Ensure warehouse areas remain neat, organised, and compliant with company standards
- Conduct preventative maintenance and daily inspections on warehouse equipment and machinery
- Complete daily vehicle and equipment checklists
- Monitor warehouse temperature and humidity readings daily
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives within warehouse processes
- Provide backup support to the Warehouse Storeman when required
Health, Safety & Quality
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards at all times
- Ensure safe handling and storage of raw materials and finished goods
- Report incidents, hazards, and non-conformances promptly
- Support ISO quality management standards and internal audit requirements
- Ensure safe disposal of expired or hazardous stock through approved procedures
Minimum Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12
- Minimum 10 years’ warehousing experience
- Valid South African driver’s licence with driving experience
- Valid Forklift/Stacker licence advantageous
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience working on a stock management or ERP system
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Pride in maintaining warehouse, vehicle, and equipment standards
Additional Information
- The role does not supervise staff but provides backup support within the warehouse function.
