We are looking for a motivated and clinically confident Dietitian to join our hospital-based team, working mainly across Life Hilton Hospital and Lenmed Hospital, as well as surrounding units.
The role involves providing high-quality clinical nutrition care to a wide range of patients, including ICU, surgical, medical, nephrology, elderly care, oncology, and metabolic disease patients. The Dietitian will be expected to assess patients, develop appropriate nutrition care plans, monitor progress, and communicate clearly with doctors, nursing staff, patients, and families.
The candidate will work closely within the multidisciplinary team, including participation in regular ICU MDT ward rounds, ensuring that nutrition forms an active and valuable part of patient management.
Key responsibilities include:
Nutritional assessment and management of hospital inpatients.
ICU nutrition support, including enteral and parenteral nutrition considerations.
Management of surgical, medical, nephrology, geriatric, and metabolic disease patients.
Clear communication with doctors, nurses, patients, and families.
Participation in MDT discussions and ICU ward rounds.
Accurate documentation, follow-up, and continuity of patient care.
Building strong professional relationships with referring doctors and hospital teams.
Promoting excellent patient-centered nutrition care across the hospitals.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or related field
Registered Dietician with HPCSA
Minimum 3-5 years of clinical experience
Strong communication, teamwork, and counselling skills
Must have own vehicle and valid license - NB
The ideal candidate should be professional, compassionate, organised, clinically curious, and comfortable working in a busy hospital environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team are essential.
As part of our commitment to developing clinical excellence, the successful Dietitian will receive additional clinical training through Critical Point, facilitated by Dr Lauryn Hill. This training covers critical care nutrition, nephrology nutrition, and surgical nutrition. Upon completion, the Dietitian will become accredited through Critical Point as a Dietitian who has received advanced clinical training. The full cost of this training is borne by the practice as part of our commitment to upskilling our clinical team and enhancing the level of care provided to our patients.
