Job Summary
Production Clerk – Cape Town
Our client in the manufacturing sector is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Production Clerk to join their Production team based in Cape Town.
The successful candidate will play a key role in capturing, analysing, and reporting on daily production data to support operational efficiency, production targets, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position is ideal for someone with strong administrative, analytical, and reporting skills gained within a factory, production, or assembly-line environment.
Key Responsibilities Production Data & Reporting
- Capture and maintain daily production data by product, machine, department, and individual
- Verify and reconcile production information, resolving discrepancies where required
- Ensure all production records are accurate, complete, and submitted timeously
- Compile daily, weekly, and monthly production reports
- Monitor and report on:
- Production targets and output
- Productivity and efficiency metrics
- Wastage, scrap rates, and rework
- Machine downtime and breakdown trends
- Analyse production trends and identify areas of underperformance
- Provide insights and recommendations to support continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain production databases, spreadsheets, and reporting tools
Inventory & Stock Control
- Conduct stock counts of raw materials and consumables
- Investigate stock variances and complete required documentation
- Maintain accurate stock records at all times
- Assist with raw material and consumable requisitions to avoid production downtime
Production Support
- Support Production Supervisors, Team Leaders, and the Maintenance team
- Assist with the implementation and monitoring of production KPIs
- Contribute to process improvements and operational efficiencies
Quality, Health & Safety
- Ensure adherence to quality management and production standards
- Assist with documentation relating to non-conformances and corrective actions
- Monitor housekeeping and maintain a clean, safe production environment
- Record environmental readings and report any non-compliance
- Promote compliance with health and safety procedures and company policies
Training & Administration
- Assist with skills assessments and training administration
- Maintain accurate training records and documentation
Minimum Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a production, factory, manufacturing, or assembly-line environment
- Strong computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and reporting skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
Advantageous
- Diploma or Certificate in Production, Operations, Supply Chain, or a related field
- Experience within a regulated manufacturing environment
