Job Summary
The successful candidate will work on a one-to-one basis with patients in the comfort of their homes OR caring for a patient in a facility. Minimum requirements to apply for this position: • You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, and your duties might revolve around the care of one of the following type of patients: Adults and Children with Tracheostomies connected to a ventilator, elderly patients with special focus on Dementia and Alzheimer care, Quadriplegic patients with PEG Tubes, Palliative patients in end of life. • Providing basic care, assisting with personal hygiene. (Washing, dressing, grooming, feeding, support with moving, toileting) • Administering medications under supervision of the registered nurse or the family. • First Aid Certificate will be an advantage. • Documenting the patient’s condition and progress. • Providing support and assistance with activities of daily living of the patient: ADL’S • Monitoring Vitals of patients and record. • Do basic wound care. • Managing feeds of a tracheostomy baby by means of a feeding pump. • Observe change in condition of patients and record in the daily report. • Write reports in good English. • Assess sleep routines of patients record and discuss with registered nursecare plan must be adjusted accordingly. Skills • A strong understanding of any treatment plans set out by the other team members (Doctor, NSM or Physiotherapist) to ensure that all tasks are completed appropriately. • Good communication skills with supervisors, colleagues, patients, and family members. • Knowledge of dealing with emergency situations with a patient in his/her home. • Knowledge of Geriatric Care, Paediatric Care, Dementia Care, Post Stroke Care, Ventilation Care • Good knowledge of Catheter care (indwelling, supra pubic, intermittent) Knowledge of prevention of pressure sores in a bedridden patient. • Good knowledge of trachea care or at least worked in a unit with tracheostomy patients and observed. • Good knowledge of suctioning of a trachea patient • Prevention of infection in all patients. • Skilled in writing reports Desired Qualifications Level and Accreditation Diploma as a qualified Enrolled Nurse Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC Receipt) How to Apply: Please send CV and all CERTIFIED supporting documentation (Diploma, SANC Receipt, Police Clearance Certificate, Certified copy of ID, and Copy of SA Driver’s License) to both the following email addresses: admin@completenursing.co.za jobs@completehealthcare.co.zaAbout
We are a medical practice operating nationwide, specialized in the continuance of post-hospital care, working with pediatrics, and all other ages of patients covering a myriad of medical issues. Although registered with all Medical Schemes, we are a preferred provider to Medi help, GEMS and Discovery, when it comes to patients with special care needs, including ventilation, trachea, PEG, oxygen, physiotherapy, etc., and provide a complete case management service including nursing staff and all equipment necessary to the care of the patient. How we work, is that we normally do an assessment based on the information provided by the attending physicians and family members, to determine the basic nursing and equipment needs of the patient. With regards to nursing, our nurses normally live in with the patient/family as we deploy nursing staff appropriate to the nursing care rather than recruit locally. But more importantly, live-in nurses means that nursing is on hand 24/7. Many patients and families cope with patient needs with one (1) live-in nurse, but if the patient needs 24/7 monitoring, pressure care, oxygen management, and unplanned interventions such as suctioning, then two (2) nurses working back-to-back is more applicable. Depending on the nursing needs of the patient, we deploy Registered Nurses (RN), Enrolled Nurses (EN), Auxiliary Nurses (ENA), or Trained Care Workers.
