Job Summary
Our client, a leader in their field, is currently looking to employ a Coal Boiler Operator, based in Port Elizabeth.
Requirements:
- Matric.
- Relevant trade tested qualification is required.
- Some relevant experience operating coal-fired boilers / as an artisan would be advantageous.
- Willingness and ability to work in a 3-shift rotation (40 hours per week).
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Must be safety-conscious and reliable.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor coal-fired boiler equipment safely and efficiently.
- Regulate boiler operations by adjusting valves, gauges, and controls.
- Conduct routine inspections of boiler systems to ensure proper functionality.
- Perform start-up and shut-down procedures in accordance with operational guidelines.
- Maintain accurate operational logs and records.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Report any operational faults or safety hazards immediately.
- Clean and perform minor maintenance on equipment as required.
- Assist with coal stock control and reporting.
Shift Information:
- 3-shift rotational schedule:
- Morning Shift: 06:00 – 14:00 (8% shift allowance)
- Afternoon Shift: 14:00 – 22:00 (12% shift allowance)
- Night Shift: 22:00 – 06:00 (14% shift allowance)
- 40-hour work week.
- NBC prescribed hourly rate.
- 15 working days annual leave per year.
- 15-day annual bonus (pro-rated where applicable).
- Provident Fund:
- Employer contribution: 6%
- Employee contribution: 5%
