Job Summary
This role is ideal for someone who is highly skilled in setting up and optimising CNC machines to ensure accurate and efficient production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up CNC machines (turning, milling, or multi-axis) according to production requirements
- Load and align tooling, fixtures, jigs, and workpieces
- Set tool offsets, work offsets, and datum points
- Perform first-off inspections to confirm dimensional accuracy
- Load, edit, and prove CNC programs (minor edits) and liaise with programmers for improvements
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications
- Use measuring equipment to ensure components meet dimensional and surface finish standards
- Support production runs, monitor machining processes, and reduce scrap through correct setup
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment
- Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Trade Test in Machining / Toolmaking (preferred)
- 3–5 years’ experience in CNC setting within a production environment
- Proven experience setting CNC lathes and/or milling machines
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of CNC machining principles
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
- Experience with Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, or similar CNC controls
- Knowledge of tooling, cutting data, and materials
- Familiarity with ISO quality standards (advantageous)
Working Conditions:
- Factory / machine shop environment
- May require shift work and overtime
- Exposure to noise, oils, and cutting fluids (PPE provided)
