Job Summary
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Gr. 12 (Std. 10) preferred
• Code EC driver’s license (old Code 14)
• PrDP an advantage
• Competency certificate for the Transport of Dangerous Goods an advantage
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of 1 year experience as a driver making deliveries locally
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience transporting goods with an articulated vehicle (i.e. horse and trailer) preferred
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
• Verbal and written Communication skills in English as a minimum. Afrikaans an advantage
• Ability to work under pressure
• Excellent Attention to Detail
• Knowledge of road regulations
• Be able to resolve problems on the road
• Be able to inspect vehicle for faults
• Be able to perform basic maintenance on the vehicle
• Own transport preferred
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work as a long distance driver
• Operate Company transport as and when required
• Plan deliveries in order to optimise time
• Complete delivery documentation & Long Distance Travel Log Sheet & submit weekly
• Travel long distance transporting KEW products & other cargo
• Load, inspect & secure truck
• Ensure that the load is secure and weighted correctly
• Operate trucks & overhead crane (if in possession of valid license)
• Assist with deliveries and collections locally as and when required
• Drive castings to and from the Grinding Bay
• Loading and offloading of the truck
• Ensure maintenance checklist completed & faults reported to Facilities Manager
• Perform vehicle inspection & daily checks
• Compliance with any road traffic act & regulation
• Ensure that the vehicle is kept clean
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance
• Assist in the Foundry Department as and when required
• Work in accordance with HR, Quality & SHE Policies
• Carry out any other work, within reason, as per Supervisor’s instructions
