Duties and Responsibilities
• Be able to mix different types and standards of paints.
• Ability to mix the paints, hardener and thinner (when and if required) in the correct
ratio’s with the correct consistency (density).
• Clean tanks and prepare the surface until suitable for painting.
• Read specs and ensure that the correct colour and type of paint is used.
• Mark and paint required areas as instructed or as per instructions.
• Able to measure and record paint thickness.
• Remove and refit identification tags to the original components.
• Clean and maintain painting equipment.
• Check airlines for water and regularly drain water from traps and air reservoirs.
• Start and stop the compressors.
• Maintain good housekeeping.
• Ability to repair thin paint and/or tear drops of thick paint.
• Ability to paint an even and consistent thickness of paint coat.
• Paint all kinds of shapes and styles of surfaces.
Qualifications and Experience
Matric with Maths
Writing and reading skills shall be a definite requirement.
Knowledge of different types of paints like Sigma, Zinc paint, Glass particle, Epoxy paints.
Knowledge of paint specs and standards of the Transformer industry shall be an advantage.
Must be able to communicate with the supervisors.
Must be able to follow instructions.
Must have the ability to work with manufacturing terminology.
Must be able to assist with collecting of materials form stores.
Ability to pay close attention to detail and co-ordinate various painting activities simultaneously.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
The ability to work under pressure.
A keen sense of urgency and a willingness to learn additional paint types.
Be able to work night shift, overtime and at times unsupervised.
Living within the area or own transport is a requirement.
Required to work beyond normal working hours, evenings, weekends and holidays.
