Job Summary
Location: Durban - La Mercy
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Millwright to join our team in a permanent capacity. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing machinery and equipment to ensure efficient operations.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Technical Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or similar role
- Proficiency in CAD
- Hands-on experience with:
- Lathe machines
- Milling machines
- Drill press
- Broaching machines
- CNC machines (programming required)
Technical Knowledge
- PVC extrusion processes
- PLCs, thermocouples, and variable speed drives
- Hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, and bearings
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Knowledge of ISO 45000 & 14000 standards
- Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety regulations (advantageous)
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement maintenance procedures
- Conduct facility inspections and resolve technical issues
- Oversee preventative maintenance schedules
- Manage breakdowns and emergency repairs
- Supervise installations and repair projects
- Coordinate contractors and service providers
- Plan maintenance work and manage spare parts inventory
- Maintain accurate documentation (job cards, timesheets, requisitions)
- Monitor maintenance budgets and expenses
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards
- Lead, train, and manage maintenance teams
- Conduct team meetings and report to management
- Monitor and improve utility consumption
