Our client based in Diep River, Southern Suburbs, is looking for a Workshop Fabrication Supervisor a highly experienced, hands-on Workshop Manager to oversee daily operations within the steel manufacturing and fabrication environment. This role requires a strong leader with practical experience across CNC machining, fabrication, and metal forming processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily workshop operations and ensure production targets and deadlines are met
Lead, manage, and support workshop staff across multiple functions
Act as the main point of contact between production teams and senior management
Ensure quality standards are maintained through regular inspections and process control
Troubleshoot operational issues and improve workflow efficiency
Provides strategic leadership across all operational departments, driving performance and aligning business activities with company goals.
Oversees senior staff, implements operational improvements, and ensures efficiency, productivity, and profitability. Acts as a key decision-maker and primary link between ownership and management teams, fostering accountability and sustained business growth.
Oversees daily operations, leads and manages staff, ensures targets and deadlines are
met, and acts as the key point of contact between teams and senior leadership.
*CNC Operator – Familiar with Drawings*
Sets up, operates, and monitors CNC machines to cut or shape materials to precise
specifications. Able to read and interpret technical drawings to ensure accurate and
consistent production output.
*Steel Fabricator*
Cuts, shapes, and assembles steel components according to drawings and specifications,
using welding and fabrication techniques to produce finished structures or parts.
*Bending Brake Operator*
Operates press brake and bending machinery to form sheet metal and steel profiles to
specified angles and dimensions, working from drawings to achieve accurate and
consistent bends.
*Boilermaker – Building Steel Without Jigs*
Fabricates and assembles steel structures freehand, without the aid of jigs or fixtures,
relying on skill, experience, and precision measurement to ensure accurate alignment and
fit-up
Technical Requirements:
Solid experience operating and setting up CNC machines
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately
Strong background in steel fabrication and welding processes
Experience with press brake / bending operations
Boilermaking experience, including the ability to fabricate without jigs (advantageous)
Ideal Candidate:
Proven supervisory or managerial experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
Hands-on, not office-bound—comfortable working on the floor with the team
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage a multi-skilled team and maintain high production standards
