The SA Steelworks Boilershop department requires a committed, hardworking and motivated individual to join their team. The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to General Assistant functions.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
•Housekeeping on a daily basis
•General workshop duties i.e. maintaining the cleanliness of the workshop and tool store
•Cleaning of tools
•Identify and able to select appropriate hand tools
•Able to use basic power tools
•Able to do to minor/ basic welding tasks
•Demonstrate appropriate knowledge of workshop safety
•Complete basic task using oxygen/acetylene cutting process under supervision
•Assisting Artisans with various tasks as and when required
Qualifying requirements
•A minimum Grade 12 certificate
•Exposure to a Boilershop environment (advantageous)
Qualifying attributes
•Ability to cut various thickness of steel with gas cutting equipment
•Experience in operating grinding and drilling portable tools accurately
•Ability to work in a team environment
•Able to work independently
•Willingness to work overtime and weekends as per operational requirements if and when required
•Ability to work under challenging physical and climatic conditions
