About the Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established national road freight & logistics company for an experienced and results-driven Branch Manager to lead their Cape Town operations.
This is a senior leadership role suited to a hands-on professional with strong road freight experience, who can drive operational excellence, team performance, and client service delivery.
Purpose of the Role
The Branch Manager will be responsible for the full operational management of the branch, ensuring efficient service delivery, cost control, compliance, and team performance in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day branch operations to ensure efficient and on-time service delivery
- Plan, coordinate, and optimise vehicles, staff, and operational resources
- Drive operational efficiency and cost-effective processes
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and operational standards
- Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team
- Foster a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and staff development
- Manage discipline and team engagement
- Client & Stakeholder Management
- Maintain strong relationships with key clients
- Ensure high service levels and client satisfaction
- Handle escalations and resolve operational challenges effectively
- Collaborate with sales teams to identify growth opportunities
- Financial & Performance Management
- Manage branch budgets and control operational costs
- Monitor performance against operational and financial targets
- Ensure accurate reporting, billing, and financial alignment
- Drive profitability and operational performance
- Compliance, Risk & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with transport regulations and company policies
- Implement and monitor quality control measures
- Conduct operational audits and risk assessments
- Continuously improve service delivery and operational standards
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric (Essential)
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Transport, Business Management, or related field (Advantageous)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in road freight / logistics
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a management / leadership role
- Proven Branch / Operations Management experience (Logistics essential)
- Strong understanding of fleet operations, compliance, and transport legislation
- Excellent leadership, planning, and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving ability
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
