Junior Commercial Attorney
Location: Sandton, Johannesburg Experience: Minimum 1 year Post-Admission Experience Salary: Market Related
A reputable law firm based in Sandton is seeking a motivated and commercially minded Junior Commercial Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year post-admission experience, with exposure to commercial law, contract drafting, Mergers & Acquisitions, and commercial litigation.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements and contracts.
Provide legal advice and support on general commercial matters.
Assist with Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) transactions, including due diligence and transaction documentation.
Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions and memoranda.
Assist with commercial litigation and dispute resolution matters.
Draft pleadings, notices, correspondence and other litigation-related documentation.
Review and assess contractual and commercial risks.
Liaise with clients, counsel and other relevant stakeholders.
Assist with transaction management and ensure matters are progressed within required deadlines.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive client and matter files.
Minimum Requirements
LLB degree or equivalent legal qualification.
Admitted Attorney in South Africa.
Minimum 1 year post-admission experience.
Practical experience in commercial law and contract drafting.
Experience with Mergers & Acquisitions.
Experience in commercial litigation.
Strong drafting, analytical and legal research skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively within a team.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
Must be based in or within reasonable commuting distance of Sandton.
Remuneration
Market-related salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
