Accountant - Fine Foods Distribution & Import Business - Stellenbosch, Western Cape ? Urgent Vacancy Kendrick Recruitment is searching for a detail-driven, experienced Accountant for a well-regarded fine foods distribution and import business based in Stellenbosch, Western Cape - proud purveyors of quality food products with a focus on distribution, wholesale and imports. Reporting to the Financial Manager, this is a hands-on, ownership-driven role for a technically strong accountant with solid experience in a stock-driven, import or FMCG environment. If you understand landed costs, forex transactions, inventory reconciliations and margin analysis - and take genuine pride in the accuracy and integrity of your work - this role is worth your attention. Please note: Candidates must already be based in the Stellenbosch or broader Cape Winelands area. This is a live-out, office-based position. Minimum Requirements: BCom Accounting, Finance or related qualification - essential Minimum 4 to 6 years' relevant accounting experience Experience within a distribution, wholesale, FMCG, manufacturing or import business - essential Strong; proven experience across: Inventory reconciliations and stock valuation Landed costing and import-related transactions Foreign exchange gains, losses and foreign supplier reconciliations Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) calculations and margin analysis Preparation of monthly management accounts Budget and forecast support Advanced Excel skills - essential ERP and inventory management system experience - essential High attention to detail and strong analytical ability Accountable; process-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously Stable work history with contactable references Key Responsibilities: ? Financial Accounting & Reporting Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules for review by the Financial Manager Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain General Ledger integrity Process journals, accruals, provisions and month-end adjustments Assist with year-end reporting and audit requirements Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and supported ? Budgeting & Forecast Support Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts Prepare budget versus actual analysis and variance reporting Assist with cash flow reporting and working capital analysis Provide supporting financial information and analysis to management ? Inventory Accounting & Valuation Maintain inventory reconciliations between the ERP system and General Ledger Review inventory adjustments, write-offs and transfers Assist with stock count and cycle count processes Monitor slow-moving, obsolete and damaged stock ? Imports; Landed Costs & Forex Process and reconcile all import-related transactions Reconcile foreign supplier accounts Account accurately for foreign exchange gains and losses ? Cost of Goods Sold & Margin Analysis Review and maintain product costing information Validate COGS calculations and analyse margin variances Investigate discrepancies and prepare profitability reports as required ?️ Financial Controls & Compliance Review expenditure for compliance with approval workflows and company policies Verify supporting documentation for supplier payments Maintain compliance with financial procedures and internal controls Escalate control weaknesses and risks to the Financial Manager ⚙️ Operational Finance Support Assist operational departments with inventory and finance-related queries Support finance process improvement initiatives Participate in ad hoc reporting and analysis projects as required Package: Gross Salary: R35,000 to R40,000 per month (DOE) Live-out; office-based position in Stellenbosch Start date: As soon as possible Should you feel you are the right fit for this role, please apply with your updated CV, contactable references and a recent head and shoulders photo ASAP! ?
