Kendrick Recruitment is currently recruiting an experienced and passionate Trails Guide to join a premier 5-star lodge team based in the prestigious Madikwe Game Reserve. Reporting to the Head Guide, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering world-class walking and wildlife experiences, combining safety with deep ecological knowledge and captivating storytelling. This is a single live-in position suited to a dedicated professional who thrives on foot in the bush and possesses the refined guest-interaction skills required in a high-end luxury safari environment. THE POSITION OVERVIEW Role: Trails Guide (Single) Location: Madikwe Game Reserve, North West Remuneration: R12,000 – R14,500 (Dependent on Experience) Benefits: Single Live-in Accommodation, Meals Provided, Tips, Full Provident Fund, and 12 Bed Nights Annually. RESPONSIBILITIES Wilderness Guiding: Lead professional and safe walking safaris, providing guests with an intimate and educational perspective of the Madikwe wilderness. Guest Interaction & Storytelling: Combine expert knowledge of local flora, fauna, and conservation practices with exceptional storytelling to create memorable and meaningful guest experiences. Safety & Compliance: Ensure all walking trails are conducted in strict accordance with safety protocols and reserve regulations, maintaining a high level of situational awareness at all times. Conservation Advocacy: Act as an ambassador for the reserve’s conservation efforts, educating guests on the delicate balance of the ecosystem and the importance of protected areas. Team Synergy: Work closely with the guiding and lodge teams to ensure a seamless and world-class guest journey from arrival to departure. REQUIREMENTS Experience: A minimum of 4 years’ established experience within a 5-star luxury lodge environment. Qualifications: All relevant guiding and trails qualifications must be fully up to date (VPDA, FGASA, Lead Trails, ARH, First Aid). Knowledge: Exceptional expertise in local flora, fauna, and regional conservation practices. Core Competencies: Strong interpersonal skills with a natural ability to engage and inspire guests from around the world.
