Job Summary
Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced, hands-on and guest-focused Senior Lodge Anchor / Assistant Manager for a luxury lodge in the Sabi Sand. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident luxury hospitality professional who enjoys combining guest interaction with operational leadership. The successful candidate will support the General Manager with the day-to-day running of the lodge while helping to maintain exceptional standards across guest relations, Front Office, Food and Beverage, Housekeeping and general lodge operations. The role requires a visible and approachable leader who is comfortable hosting guests, guiding the team and taking responsibility for lodge operations in the absence of senior management. Key Responsibilities • Support the General Manager with the daily operation of the lodge • Act as Manager on Duty and take responsibility for the lodge when required • Deliver warm, professional and personalised guest experiences from arrival through to departure • Host guests during meals, activities and special occasions • Manage guest requests, feedback and service-related concerns professionally • Maintain strong communication with guests throughout their stay • Oversee Front Office, Reception and Guest Relations operations • Supervise room allocations, guest movements, check-ins and departures • Ensure guest accounts, payments and check-outs are processed accurately • Coordinate honeymoon arrangements, celebrations and individual guest preferences • Work closely with Housekeeping, Kitchen, Service, Guides and Maintenance teams • Monitor service delivery and presentation standards across all departments • Assist with daily briefings, departmental coordination and operational planning • Support, coach and motivate team members through a hands-on leadership style • Assist with staff scheduling, performance management and training • Prepare daily reports, operational documentation and management updates • Oversee gate manifests, transfer arrangements and charter coordination • Assist with stock control, curio shop operations and cash reconciliations • Support Food and Beverage service and hosting when required • Ensure lodge policies, procedures and health and safety standards are followed Requirements • Previous experience in a Senior Lodge Anchor, Duty Manager or similar role • Experience within a luxury safari lodge or five-star hospitality environment • Strong Guest Relations, Front Office and lodge administration experience • Good understanding of Food and Beverage and Housekeeping operations • Previous team supervision or junior management experience • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Confident, professional and highly guest-focused approach • Strong organisational, leadership and problem-solving abilities • Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain calm under pressure • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office • Experience with hospitality management systems would be advantageous • Valid driver’s licence This role would suit a capable and energetic lodge professional who is ready to take the next step into management while remaining closely involved in the guest experience and daily operation of the lodge.
