Live-in Overview A luxury island resort in Mozambique is seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Manager to oversee all aspects of maintenance operations. This hands-on role is ideal for a technically proficient professional with experience managing teams, projects, and the full spectrum of maintenance needs in a high-end hospitality environment. Key Responsibilities • Report directly to the General Manager and assist with all lodge maintenance operations, including plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, air conditioning, carpentry, building, and general maintenance • Take responsibility for solar systems, hot water, water treatment, and sewerage • Oversee routine and preventative maintenance schedules, including generators • Plan and manage maintenance projects, ensuring timely completion and effective team coordination • Conduct regular water tests, monitor levels, and advise on equipment upgrades • Manage lodge water and power budgets, including cost control • Maintain all equipment under your responsibility, ensuring service schedules are met • Schedule work to minimise disruption to guests • Build and maintain relationships with external suppliers and contractors • Implement preventative maintenance measures to reduce downtime • Perform general office duties including administration, invoice allocation, and record-keeping • Oversee human resources aspects of the maintenance team, including leave registers, disciplinary actions, and performance monitoring • Control stock and tools, order supplies cost-effectively • Participate in budget planning for repairs, maintenance, and capital expenditure • Attend all relevant meetings (morning meetings, finance, departmental updates) • Implement and maintain the lodge sustainability program, maintaining a 96% sustainability score Qualifications & Experience • Certificate in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar maintenance management role, preferably in hospitality • Valid Driver’s Licence and PRDP Licence • Strong technical skills across multiple maintenance disciplines (electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC) Skills & Personal Characteristics • Proactive, investigative, and analytical mindset • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines • Methodical, detail-oriented, and persistent • Creative problem-solving and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities • High energy level with perseverance and patience • Decisive, adaptable, and able to manage both routine and complex tasks efficiently • Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills What’s on Offer • Competitive salary based on experience • Live-in accommodation • Opportunity to work in a prestigious, luxury island resort setting • Career growth in a professional and dynamic hospitality environment ⏳ If you do not hear from us within 7 working days, please consider your application unsuccessful.
