Lodge Manager - Luxury Private Game Reserve - Sabi Sand Kendrick Recruitment is searching for an exceptional, guest-focused Lodge Manager for a renowned luxury game reserve in the prestigious Sabi Sand Game Reserve, forming part of one of South Africa's most respected luxury hospitality groups. Set along the banks of a perennial river in the heart of the Sabi Sand, this property is where modern charm meets traditional luxury, delivering a profoundly connected safari experience for discerning local and international guests. The Lodge Manager will be the visible heart of the operation - leading the guest services team, championing service standards and ensuring every guest leaves with memories that last. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is equally comfortable hosting VIP guests at dinner and developing a junior team member before the morning drive. Minimum Requirements: Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience in a senior lodge management or guest services role within a 5-star safari environment - essential Proven track record in delivering exceptional luxury guest experiences Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a natural ability to motivate teams Solid knowledge of lodge operations across multiple departments Sound understanding of financial controls, stock management and cost control Familiarity with health, safety, hygiene and HACCP compliance Proficient in MS Office and familiar with property management systems Excellent written and verbal English communication skills High level of professionalism, emotional maturity and adaptability Valid driver's license and own transport - essential Comfortable living and working in a remote, live-in bush environment Stable work history with outstanding, contactable references Key Responsibilities: ? Guest Experience & Hosting Be a visible, warm and hands-on host - meeting, engaging and connecting with guests daily Maintain and continuously elevate guest care, delight and feedback management standards Handle all guest queries, complaints and special requests promptly and graciously Act as primary contact for VIPs, high-profile guests, travel agents and media visits Conduct regular guest briefings and ensure all activities and experiences run seamlessly ? Lodge Operations Take full responsibility for all lodge operations in the General Manager's absence Ensure consistent communication and alignment across F&B, housekeeping, guiding, maintenance and front office Ensure departmental SOPs and service standards are current and properly implemented Maintain immaculate presentation and cleanliness of the lodge at all times ? Staff Leadership & Development Lead; mentor and motivate the guest services team with clear goals and expectations Identify and develop talent with structured career growth plans Conduct regular performance reviews with transparent two-way feedback Foster a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing team culture across all departments ? Financial & Stock Controls Support accurate daily expenditure, stock control, ordering and stock-take processes Monitor guest services costs and recommend efficiencies without compromising standards Manage par stock levels and supplier relationships for guest service products ?
