Hospitality and Outdoor – New Vacancy – Lodge Manager Luxury Lodge – Nankoma Island - Malawi An experienced Lodge General Manager is needed to oversee all operations at a luxury island lodge on Nankoma Island, Malawi. Because the lodge sits within a protected, environmentally sensitive area, this senior, live-in role is ideal for a hospitality professional who has managed upscale lodges or remote properties. While the setting is unique, the manager must be ready to lead every aspect of the lodge. The General Manager is fully responsible for operational performance, guest satisfaction, staff leadership, and financial controls. Additionally, the manager must ensure the lodge follows safety, health, and environmental standards. Since the role sits above departmental management, it demands a hands-on leader who balances service excellence with operational efficiency. Moreover, adaptability is vital as challenges can arise quickly. Core responsibilities include guest hosting, handling complaints, and coordinating activities. The manager must always maintain high service standards in accommodation, food and beverage, and recreational offerings. Furthermore, operational oversight covers building and boat maintenance, housekeeping, restaurant operations, stock control, procurement, and cost management. In every area, attention to detail is crucial. The role also includes full administrative duties. This covers bookings, invoicing, payments, reporting, asset management, and involvement in sales and marketing. Because regular engagement with guests, travel partners, and support teams is required, strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Additionally, clear reporting helps keep all stakeholders informed. Staff management is a key function. It involves recruitment, contracts, scheduling, leave management, policy compliance, performance monitoring, and ongoing training. Since technology plays a big role, strong IT skills are needed. The manager must use spreadsheets, booking platforms, and digital reporting systems to keep operations running smoothly. Job Requirements & Responsibilities Minimum 5 years’ experience in the tourism or hospitality industry Proven lodge management experience within the last 2 years Diploma or Degree in Hospitality (advantageous) Full oversight of guest services, operations, administration, and HR Food & beverage, housekeeping, maintenance, and stock control management Procurement management across all lodge departments Health; safety, and environmental compliance Strong leadership, communication, and IT skills Ability to manage remote, live-in operations effectively Package: · Salary: USD 2,000 – 5,000 gross per month · Live-in · Meals on duty · Other company benefits Start Date: ASAP
